The Armenian Speleological Center NGO was created in 1984 and officially registered in April 1, 1991, after it was reregistered in January 27, 2000, certificate #1416.
The Armenian Speleological Center NGO collaborates with Institute of Archaeology (Armenia), Institute of Oriental Studies of National Academy of Science (Armenia), The Geography Association of Armenia, “Tapan” NGO (Armenia), “Alpino Club” (Italy), State University of Perm, Speleological Center of Perm, Speleological Center of Bulgaria, “Tatev Research Facility”, “Periodical of Ecology of Armenia” Scientific Journal and others.
The president of Speleological Center is Samvel Martini Shahinyan, Senior Professor of Yerevan State Engineering University.
The organization searches, explores caves, sites of fire, artificial and natural subterranean channels, tunnels. Caves are investigated, measured and classified.
Protection of subterranean landscape, microclimate fauna, flora and cave ecological environment.
Realization of the programs related with ecological and subterranean landscape mapping.
Protection of anthropogenic and historical caves, calcifications, monasteries, populated areas, passages, tunnels and worship sites.
Realizations of programs related with speleological terminology and examination.
Comprehensive development of programs related with usage and protection of caves having natural historical and research values.
Collaboration with international research works and expeditions.
Always to keeps the Armenian speleology on high level and prepare specialists for that purpose.
Processes of protection of ecological rights have been realized since 1987, including protection of “Arger” and “Mozrov” caves with help of volunteers. The report of Mozrov entrance and elimination of caving-in was performed on our own TV programs and articles in mass media.
